TERI organized a two day exposure programme for DFID, India officials that focussed on various aspects of climate change. The programme sensitized the participants with latest developments on various issues related to climate change with a focus on science, mitigation, adaptation and policy aspects.

Biomass accounts for more than 80% of domestic cooking in India. The combustion of biomass fuels produces a large number of air pollutants including nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), Sulphur dioxide (SO2), respirable particulate, formaldehyde and benzene.

Development of an Indicator for Impact of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies on Poverty Alleviation

The proposed study aims to develop an Index that measures the impact of climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies on poverty alleviation. The methodology developed in this study will then also be able to provide direction to assessing the impacts of climate change response strategies on other co-benefits.

Course on Green Buildings

As part of the Centre of Excellence of the Ministry of Urban Development, TERI has undertaken the task of developing a much-required course curriculum on 'Green Buildings'. This course is designed for master's students and intend to fill the gap which currently exists in this sector.The developed course will go through various rounds of external reviews.

Air pollution exposure at fuel refilling centres

Benzene is present in petroleum products such as fuels, diesel fuel, crude oil, petrol. Benzene has been shown to cause cancer in both animals and humans, therefore is currently classified as human caricinogen (Group A) by US Environmental protection agency, and International Agency for Research on Cancer 1996 and based on limited evidence for carcinogenicity in experimental animals.
