May 1, 2000 to
April 30, 2003
@ Isolate and characterize phloem-specific promoters such as sucrose synthase promoter from B. juncea and Arabidopsis@ Carry out deletion analysis of the cloned promoter sequence to identify the core-promoter sequence
@ Perform genetic transformation of B. juncea with snow drop lectin gene under the control of CaMV35S and phloem-specific promoters
@ Test putative transgenic plants in lab for tissue-specific expression of lec GNA
@ Test putative transgenic plants for resistance against aphids under containments

April 30, 2003
This project included the following activities:1/ Develop acidic-sludge-degrading bacterial consortium;
2/ Select most efficient bacterial strains;
3/ Identify intermediate metabolic products arisen during degradation of acidic-alkane compounds.
