Training Course on "Advanced Techniques in Mycorrhizal Research "

November 1, 2006 to March 31, 2007
| Completed Project

The main objective of the course is to impart hands-on training in research techniques on mycorrhizal research so that the participants can apply them in their research programmes. Therefore, besides demonstrating the techniques, participants should be encoraged to carry out the techniques/laboratory exercises themselves. Specific objectives include:

Study of compensation to resource bearing states

| Completed Project

To understand the context and meaning of compensation to resource bearing states (Hydropower, coal, selected major minerals, oil and natural gas). To examine various issues - constitutional, legal and regulatory, economic, environmental and issues of equitable sharing of compensation between various stakeholder groups.

Molecular characterization of Jatropha curcas germplasm

October 16, 2006 to October 15, 2010
| Completed Project

In this proposal, we intend to a) estimate the molecular genetic diversity of Jatropha curcas accessions characterised for oil content and agronomic traits under DBT funded network project, b) development of a molecular linkage map using AFLP markers and c) identification of molecular markers linked with genes /QTLs controlling seed yield and oil content.

Concurrent evaluation of franchisee system in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Karnataka

October 12, 2006 to September 28, 2007

Proposal for concurrent evaluation of franchisees operating in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Karnataka

Multilocation field trial of Curcuma longa var. Lakadong in different agro-climate zones of North East India for ascertaining factors influencing curcumin content in the region

October 5, 2006 to November 18, 2011
| Completed Project

Higher curcumin content of turmeric fetches better price in international market. The curcumin content may vary between different varieties of turmeric (Curcuma longa). Further, the developmental status of the rhizome and various agroclimatic factors can also influence the curcumin content significantly.

October 1, 2006 to November 30, 2010
| Completed Project

The purpose of this project is to carry out isolation, structure determination by modern NMR and MS techniques and bioassays of steroid saponins from Chlorophytum species indigenous to India in order to find new biologically active compounds as potent cytotoxic agents which could find applications in Phytomedicine or as insecticidal agents which could find applications in the economic food-agricul

Green cover for crops!

October 1, 2006 to March 31, 2010
| Completed Project

Integrated pest management or IPM is the strategy for maximizing the use of bio-pesticide with need-based use of pesticides. For many years now, TERI has been involved in the demonstration of IPM packages to farmers.

Development of integrated genetic linkage map and marker assisted selection in tea

September 29, 2006 to November 2, 2012
| Completed Project

The proposal envisages to develop a molecular genetic linkage map in tea which can be used to help tea breeders in crossing and selection of progeny with desired combination of traits based on associated molecular markers.
