According to the study by TERI, out of the total polymer consumption of 16.8 million tonnes per annum in 2018-19, 90% was for plastic and the remaining 10% was for non-plastic consumption. From the total plastic waste generated, about 60% is actually recycled, 8.5% reutilized for energy recovery and repurposing, and about 31.5% is mismanaged plastic waste.

A Dust Management Committee, comprising of experts from IIT Delhi, TERI and Delhi Pollution Control Committee has submitted a dust management plan to the Delhi government, under which warnings will be issued to the project proponent if the PM10 and PM2.5 levels at the site are more than 25% of the air quality readings at the nearest monitoring station.

According to a study of 26 refractory units in East Godavari district by TERI, there is a scope for conserving 10% (8.3 Million Units) of the energy consumed by them per annum amounting to a financial saving of Rs5.56 crore at current tariffs. Their production of refractory material is 62,500 tonnes per year.
