The Yamuna will continue to be polluted unless Delhi implements a complete sewerage treatment system. The river is primarily polluted by Delhi's numerous sewers, which fail to adequately process sewage. Dr. SK Sarkar, a Distinguished Fellow at TERI and a former secretary of the Union Water Resources Ministry, stated that it is evident that the river would be contaminated by the untreated effluent.
