Water Conservation through Rejuvenation of Pond with Participatory Community Engagement
January 1, 2018 to
December 31, 2019
| Water
Water is a prerequisite for all the development activities and its conservation and efficient management needs to take center stage for sustainable development. India faces major challenges with declining per capita water availability and stands stressed with rising water demand mainly from the already competing agriculture, domestic and industrial sectors. In order to respond to these growing challenges, it is imperative that water conservation interventions should be mandated as an integral part of water use and management in India.
TERI to help Tetra Pak formulate strategies to reduce number of straws getting disposed in India
September 23, 2019 to
December 9, 2019
| Waste
Straws, found with portion beverage carton packs, are the last mode of carrying hygienic beverages /drinks to our body. Though there are numerous benefits of having a straw with the beverage pack, yet the mismanagement of plastic waste collection had posed subsequent impacts, through micro and nanoplastics, on our environment.
Climate Adaptation & Services Community (CASCO)
October 1, 2015 to
November 30, 2019
| Climate Change
| Environment
CASCO will especially focus on long-lasting cooperation in the field of climate change adaptation by creating a community of European and Indian researchers and innovators. CASCO consists of a total of 5 European and 4 Indian core partners, with a wide range of network partners. The consortium is strongly rooted in earlier cooperation on climate change and water issues in India.
Does the air quality from the crop residue burning in the close proximity to residential areas adversely affect respiratory health?
November 16, 2018 to
November 15, 2019
| Air
Crop residue burning (CRB) is a recurring problem, especially during the months of October-November, in the north-western regions (Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh) of India. In 2018, TERI initiated a study to assess the rise in cases of respiratory illnesses with a corresponding increase in PM2.5 concentrations in the farming community of six villages in Patiala district of Punjab.
Assessment for aggregating DSM opportunities at utility level amongst industrial consumers for low carbon growth
October 2, 2018 to
October 31, 2019
| Energy Efficiency
There are several energy-efficient (EE) technologies that can be adopted by industrial consumers to save energy and reduce their electricity demand. Demand aggregation is a critical step in the development of a utility's Demand Side Management (DSM) program. Extrapolation of the results of the sample survey conducted among 100 SME customers of Tata Power was conducted to estimate the aggregated demand for EE technologies (EET) in the entire population.
Enhancing the transparency, comparability and linkage of climate actions in India through the Networked Carbon Markets initiative
June 13, 2016 to
June 30, 2019
| Climate Change
In order to enhance the transparency and comparability of climate actions, and ultimately facilitate the ‘networking’ of carbon markets, the key objectives of this assignment are:
Describe the details of the PAT and REC schemes and to unbundle the climate change mitigation benefits from other energy and domestic policy benefits and services provided by the programs.
Mapping policy for solar irrigation across the Water– Energy–Food (WEF) Nexus in India
February 4, 2019 to
May 31, 2019
| Energy
This paper seeks to assist policy-makers and researchers in India who are working to promote the uptake of offgrid, solar-powered pumps for groundwater irrigation (“off-grid solar pumps”). Implementing such policies can be challenging because of the complicated interconnections between water, energy and food—often referred to as the “water–energy–food nexus” or WEF nexus. This briefing sets out key WEF linkages of importance for off-grid solar pumps.
Potential Assessment of Floating Solar PV (FSPV) in India
September 19, 2018 to
April 1, 2019
The project has conducted potential assessment of Floating Solar PV (FSPV) in India, as part of ETC programme. A report has been prepared under the project.
Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV): A Third Pillar to Solar PV Sector?
The report has found that India's reservoirs have 18,000 sq km of area that have the potential to generate 280 GW of electricity through floating solar photovoltaic (PV) plants
