In vitro regeneration of economically important bamboo species: Dendrocalamus giganteus and Bambusa tulda
The overall objective of the project is to develop micropropagation protocols for Dendrocalamus giganteus and Bambusa tulda. However, the specific objectives of the study are as follows : 1. Collection of experimental material (seeds/nodal segments) of Dendrocalamus giganteus and B. tulda and its establishment at TERIs research station at Gurgaon 2. Develop procedures of in vitro culture initiation 3. Standardize the process of shoot multiplication by axillary branching method followed by rooting of shoots 4. Optimize procedures for acclimatization of tissue cultured plants before transplantation 5. Fortify the tissue cultured plants with suitable mycorrhiza to further enhance the performance of tissue cultured plants
