Resettlement and rehabilitation scheme for extension of MRTS Line 3 to I P Estate

This project entailed preparation of an appropriate financial package for project affected persons (PAP) who are inhabitants of squatter settlements in path of the proposed alignment of one of the lines of Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) in Delhi. This vulnerable population is squatting on land belonging to Indian Railways and are likely to be evicted with no compensation and the concomitant adversities. This financial package was based on a comprehensive study that entailed a detailed review of the R&R policy and legislative environment in Delhi. This was viewed in context of other resettlement experiences of Delhi to ascertain the viability of adopting the existing approach and the opportunities and possibilities that may be possible for effecting this resettlement in an equitable and efficiently managed manner with cooperation from all stakeholders.
