Reducing GHG emissions by promoting bioenergy technologies for heat applications
FAO-UNEP has been engaged in developing a full-scale project proposal (for funding by GEF) on "Reducing Gas Emissions by Promoting Bioenergy for Heat Applications" through PDF-B grant from GEF. The proposed project targets the four countries; viz. Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. FAO-RAP sought technical assistance from TERI to assist organizations from partner countries in carrying out national level studies as well as in organizing the Second Regional Experts'' Consultation Meeting to prepare the Logical Framework Matrix (LogFrame) of the proposed GEF project. This meeting was organized in Delhi from 6 to 10 September 2005, at TERI''s RETREAT Campus in Gual Pahari, Gurgaon, Haryana. The outcomes of the meeting were as follows:
Ø Regional overview of potential markets of improved bioenergy technologies for heat applications and barriers in commercialization of these technologies.
Ø Preliminary results of the country studies on target markets for commercialization of improved bioenergy technologies for heat application; the barriers in targeting commercialization and capacity-building needs of stakeholders in order to achieve commercialization.
Ø Log Frame of proposed GEF project
Ø Schedule of activities -remaining activities for formulation of full-scale project document.
