Panchayati Raj and Natural Resource Management post-73rd Amendment: Institutional issues and future strategies

The objectives are (1) to build current activity profiles of PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions) and other stakeholders with respect to NRM (Natural resource Management), (2) to identify drivers of proliferation of local organizations, (3) to determine operational constraints to functioning of PRIs, (4) to study present/potential situations of conflicts that arise due to ambiguity in stake holder roles and responsibilities, (5) to study the policy/regulatory/legislative measures taken to facilitate effective functioning of PRIs, (6) to determine the activities of the PRIs with respect to NRM such that they meet their obligations as conferred to them as per the 73rd amendment, (7) to recommend mechanisms for amicable co-functioning of all the stakeholders.
