Life cycle cost of energy efficient buildings
Under the study titled above, TERI shall prepare three reports namely:
1. Comparative study on global building benchmarks:TERI shall conduct research on building standards and norms for the industry in India and establish a comparison with global benchmarks (i.e. EU and USA). This study shall identify the gaps and establish potential areas for investment in research and development of various technologies and Indian specific standards, which will have a significant impact reduction in CO2 emissions.
2. Green building economics and impact on CO2 emissions: Based on the information collected from select companies/ clients identified as above, TERI shall study the economics of green buildings, i.e. savings potential in green buildings (new commercial buildings and existing buildings) with respect to capital cost, operating cost and payback period (for both buildings and green technology).
3. Evolution of green building market in India: With support from HSBC, TERI shall identify the major players in the green building industry and establish the evolution/growth patterns in the last ten years. With support from HSBC, TERI shall contact various companies (about 20) for information and their investments in the green building market. TERI shall develop sector and stakeholder specific questionnaires to be circulated amongst the companies to gather data and compile case studies to establish the evolution of investment in the green building sector for the purpose of this project.
