Interactions between the Environment, Society and Technology (INTEREST)
The objectives of this project are to:
(a) Assess ecosystem changes by understanding and analysing community ecosystem practices;
(b) Describe and analyse relationships and changes between the technological, social and environmental components of change using a range of techniques;
(c) Disseminate knowledge using a range of dissemination tools to all levels of society thus strengtheneing the social and environmetal knowledge base.
The project uses five selected multidisciplinary ecosystems in the Asia region. Three of these are in India. Indian ecosystems are degraded bamboo forest ecosystem in Haryana, small scale farming systems in the peri-urban and rural areas of Karnataka and degraded traditional aquaculture systems of Goa.
