Identification of Win-Win Adaptation Options through Adaptation Metrics and Integrated Adaptation Decision-Making Frameworks
The current status of climate change adaptation is characterized by ad-hoc decision-making mechanisms without a means to measure the progress in adaptive capacity of people and systems under question. Effective adaptation is best achieved by knowing beforehand the possible impact of adaptation otpions on the adaptive capacity of the system under consideration. In order to facilitate planned adaptation, this research aims to (i) identify a set of metrics to measure the effectiveness of adaptation options; and (ii) develop an integrated decision-making framework that helps various stakeholders to take adaptation decisions in the agriculture sector in the Gangetic basin.
