Development of broad-spectrum (AMF and EM) next generation technology for higher plants and agroforestry systems
The objectives of the project are: 1. Clonal selection of hosts for targeted inoculum type for development of customized inoculum depending upon plantation strategy and habitat requirements. Recent studies conducted at TERI confirm host mediated AM symbiosis, which earlier were being considered as non-host specific organisms. 2. To investigate and to understand the ectomycorrhizal symbiosis with respect to transformed root invitro and develop combined model of various EM and root culture lines and develop a new mass production process for ectomycorrhizal inoculum production and subsequent application. A recent study undertaken at TERI confirmed the possibility of growing ectomycorrhiza in root organ culture. 3. To develop an AM-EM-ROC based product inoculum for addressing a wide spectrum of hosts and growing systems and reclamation needs: A step towards Development of broad-spectrum next generation technology for higher plants and agroforestry systems. 4. Detection of Detection of symbiosis regulated (SR) genes for better understanding of AM-EM-ROC based symbiotic relationship.
