Objectives of the Thematic Track

Join NIBIO and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi at the World Sustainable Development Summit 2025 for an insightful discussion on leveraging digital public goods and infrastructure to enhance climate resilience and food security in agriculture. This event will showcase innovative technologies from projects like RESILIENCE and UPSCALE, highlighting their impact on sustainable farming practices.

Explore how these and other digital innovations by the Indian Government, such as the India Digital Agriculture Mission, AgriStack and PM KISAN Schemes, are transforming agriculture, fostering sustainable practices, and ensuring food security in the face of climate change. Learn about global collaborations such as the UNDP India’s Data in Climate Resilient Agriculture (DiCRA), the OpenAgriNet and Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA) internationalize these efforts across borders. Finally, engage with private sector players as to how they contribute to the digital transformation of agriculture through Digital Public Goods and Infrastructure. Engage with experts, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss scalable solutions and collaborative efforts for a resilient agricultural future.

  • How can governments, NGOs and private sector actors collaborate and coordinate their efforts in building a global AgriStack to improve the agriculture in India and countries across the world?
  • How can we build a platform and knowledge pool connecting farmers with markets, financial services, and other stakeholders?
  • How can we use digital public goods and infrastructure in building climate resilient agricultural practices?
  • How can AI be leveraged in already existing DPI and DPGs as well as future technologies?

Policy Recommendations/ Outcomes

Strengthen Farmer-Centric Digital Infrastructure with Localised Control: The event emphasised the need for state-level ownership of AgriStack frameworks to ensure contextual relevance. Platforms must address core questions for farmers—identity, assets, and activities—and facilitate two-way communication to close knowledge gaps and improve engagement, as advocated through initiatives like Digital Plant Clinics.

Leverage Geospatial Data and AI for Targeted Climate-Resilient Interventions: Tools like DiCRA and the Digital Public Goods Alliance Registry were highlighted for enabling access to open, AI-driven datasets that classify farms based on climate risk. This data-driven approach supports precise agricultural planning and climate adaptation strategies.

Foster Public-Private-CSO Collaboration to Improve Linkages and Financial Access: Stakeholders called for integrated efforts across government, private sector, and civil society organisations (CSOs) to strengthen agricultural value chains. NABARD’s credit planning models and digital core banking solutions for rural institutions were recognised as critical in improving financial inclusion and market access for farmers.
