Workshop on 'Japanese Experience on Promoting Heat Pump Systems for Energy Efficiency in Industry'

TERI, with support from Energy Conservation Centre, Japan (ECCJ), conducted a feasibility study to introduce energy-efficient low carbon Japanese heat pump technology in the Indian dairy industry. To disseminate the findings of the pre-feasibility study as well as to share experiences of promoting heat pump systems with the key stakeholders, TERI and ECCJ organized a workshop on February 18, 2016 at PHD House in Chandigarh.

The workshop was organized in association with Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) and other local industries. Over 50 participants comprising representatives from government bodies, industry associates, representatives from textile, food processing, dairy and hospitality industries, and certified energy auditors were present at the workshop. Experts from ECCJ, Heat Pump & Thermal Storage Technology Center of Japan, Daikin Air-conditioning India (P) Ltd, Mayekawa India, and Thermax Ltd delivered informative presentations during the workshop.

Mr Balour Singh, Director, PEDA delivered the key note and spoke about the significance of low carbon technologies. Dr Amarpal Singh, Managing Director, PEDA and Mr Jiro Sogawa, Managing Director, ECCJ were also present at the workshop.
