Training program on Urban Climate Change Resilience

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi in association with the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), Government of Maharashtra, is organizing a training program on 'Building urban climate change resilience' on May 18-19, 2015 at YASHADA, Pune, with support from the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN).

APN is a network of 22 Member Country governments, including India, which promotes global change research in the region through science based adaptation strategies, effective science and policy linkages, and capacity development. The CAPaBLE programme focuses on enhancing scientific capacity in developing countries to improve decision-making in focus areas of global change and sustainable development.

The training program will have a daylong orientation program for elected representatives followed by one day training program for municipal officials. The program aims to sensitize the city stakeholders on the impacts of climate change on cities and the need for urban climate resilience planning. It endeavors that the goal of building urban climate change resilience is inculcated at all levels of governance and is implemented to its true intent so that the urban centers in India are well equipped to face the challenges like that of climate extremes and climate change due to global warming.
