TERI-ITEC Courses 2015-16: Course VII - Natural Resource Security: Governance, Challenges and Opportunities
The three week ITEC programme conducted by the Centre for Resource Security and Development Policy, TERI titled 'Natural Resource Security: Governance, Challenges and Opportunities' has been successfully completed. The participants were from Argentina, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, Peru, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia. The course covered various topics including natural resource economics, trade in natural resources, trans-boundary resources, governance issues, climate change and those related to conflict around natural resource. Sector experts in minerals, water and energy also discussed issues around resource security pertaining to each of these sectors with the participants. The classroom sessions were designed to make them interactive and the participants found them fruitful. As part of the course the international participants were taken to GVNML initiative, Jaipur for field visits. They were also taken for Delhi local sightseeing, Agra and Jaipur sightseeing. Good feedback was received from the participants about the course conduct and content, and a few of them expressed desire to connect with TERI beyond this programme.
