TERI-ITEC Courses 2014-15: Course VII - Natural Resource Security: Governance, Challenges and Opportunities
TERI organized a three-week ITEC programme on 'Natural Resource Security: Governance, Challenges and Opportunities' during March 9-27, 2015 at RETREAT, Gual Pahari.
The participants were from Argentina, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Cambodia, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Lithuania, Malawi, Myanmar, Nigeria, Paraguay, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Suriname, Thailand, and Vietnam. The course covered topics such as natural resource economics, trade in natural resources, laws and regulations on trans-boundary resources, governance issues, climate change conflicts, etc. Sector experts in minerals, water, and energy also discussed about the issues related to resource security pertaining to each of these sectors with the participants. The classroom sessions were designed to make them interactive, and the participants found them fruitful. As a part of the course, the international participants were taken to Saras Circle, Bharatpur and GVNML initiative, and Jaipur for field visits. They were also taken for Delhi, Agra and Jaipur local sightseeing. Participants gave a positive feedback about the course conduct and content. A few of them also expressed their desire to connect with TERI beyond this programme.
