TERI BCSD Energy Chapter Launch & Panel Discussion 'Energy Secure India'
The Energy Chapter was launched on May 17, 2015 under the aegis of TERI BCSD at the TERI office, New Delhi. The chapter seeks to establish India's Energy Security by the use of commercially viable renewable energy sources while providing solutions for energy management. Mr Dipankar Sanyal welcomed the members of the steering committee for its first formal meeting. The members included NTPC (Co-chair), Welspun Renewable (Co-chair), IREDA, SECI, EESL, DIAL, DMRC, Hero Future Energy, Schneider Electric, and Vikram Solar. The group deliberated on their expectations from the Chapter, its focus areas and goals. Afterwards, the second session of discussion started for the BCSD members and larger audience. Dr Vancheswaran welcomed the audience and set the theme for the discussions with her astute words. The panel discussion on energy efficiency, chaired by Dr S K Sarkar, Distinguished Fellow, TERI, had panelists from Schneider Electric, DIAL, Philips Lighting, and EESL. The group acquainted the audience with the international industry trends and best practices for energy monitoring and ways to increase energy efficiency. The second panel discussion on renewable energy was chaired by Mr Shirish Garud, Associate Director, EETD, TERI. The panelists and representatives from Welspun Energy, Hero Future Energy and DMRC reflected on the issues related to renewable power evacuation, need for manpower training, state of technology, and power purchase agreements.
