Stakeholders Workshop on "Expediting Solar Deployment in Southern States"
TERI and MNRE have envisaged to organize various regional stakeholder workshops to accelerate the grid- connected solar capacity addition in the country. The first workshop in this regard is being organized on December 18, 2015 in Hyderabad, which would cover the Southern region comprising of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The major objective of the workshop is to assess the shortcomings of the Solar RPO schemes prevalent at the state level suggest remedial actions for the set target and the implementation mechanism. The workshop would be attended by representatives from SERCs, SNAs, State Load Despatch Centres (SLDCs) and the obligated entities, especially Distribution Companies (DISCOMs), Captive Power Plants (CPPs) and solar power project developers.
Expected Outcome:
- Identifying the hurdles faced by the DISCOMs and other obligated entities towards meeting the designated solar RPO targets
- Discussion on state solar policies and methods to promote solar deployment
- Understanding the current issues of solar REC trading in India
