Round Table & Launch of Report titled 'Pro poor mobility: Policy guidelines and Case Studies
TERI has recently completed a study on pro poor mobility issues under the aegis of the Global Energy Network for Urban Settlements (GENUS), a network established by the UN-HABITAT. The study report titled 'Pro-poor mobility - Policy guidelines and Case Studies' brings together fifty best practices from South and South East Asia, Africa and Latin America on improving mobility opportunities for poor and low income population. The report was launched by Mr A K Misra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation on 28th June 2013 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. In his inaugural remarks, Mr Misra highlighted the growing challenge of urban poverty and the role of inclusive mobility in addressing it. TERI conducted a day-long Round Table on 'Pro-poor mobility' on the occasion, which was attended by various key stakeholders from the government and non-government agencies. The discussions in the Round Table focused on mobility solutions for urban poor and low income commuter categories in the Indian cities.
