REEEP South Asia Regional Partners’ Meeting on Food–Water–Energy Nexus in South Asia: Towards Sustainable Agri-food Value Chain
REEEP South Asia Secretariat organized the Annual Regional Partners' Meeting on March 24, 2015 in the Park Hotel, Hyderabad. The meeting, which was focussed on 'Food-Water-Energy nexus', aimed at assessing the needs and actions required for creating favourable environment for a nexus in the South Asian region. The meeting intended to integrate an understanding of regulatory, technological, financial, and entrepreneurial aspects of agri-food value chain, such as sustainable crop management, processing, distribution, and retailing.
Three case studies were presented by Dr Golam Rasul from ICIMOD, Mr Kaushik Yanamandaram from SustainEarth, and Dr Vibha Tripathi from Saurya Enertech.
This was followed by focused discussions on the scope of public-private partnership in improving the nexus and areas of intervention in the nexus.
The meeting saw an active engagement of about 30 participants from academic institutes, consultancy firms, young entrepreneurs, NGOs, individual consultants, bilateral organisations, state agriculture universities and agriculture research institutes.
The meeting was a part of a market research exercise, and the inputs received were fed into shaping the REEEP's programme.
