One-Day Training Programme on "Grid-connected Rooftop Solar PV Systems" for Banks and Other Financial Institutions
TERI has organized one-day training programme (second in the series) on "Grid-connected Rooftop Solar PV Systems" for Banks and Other Financial Institutions/ Investment Farms on October 27, 2015 at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), H. R. Mahajani Marg, Matunga Road, Mumbai, Maharashtra - 400 019. The training programme was designed in such a way that it can enable the target groups (exclusively for the Public and Private Sector Banks and Other Financial Institutions/Investment Farms) to understand technical, financial and regulatory aspects, including standards and quality control, techno-economic assessment, risk assessment and evaluation of loan applications, and RBI's Notification of Priority Sector Lending-Targets & Classification for rooftop solar PV systems. Practitioners and renowned industry experts from TERI, MNRE, The World Bank, VJTI, Tata Cleantech, YES Bank, SBI Capital Markets Limited, and SunSource Energy presented their views and shared experiences on implementing rooftop PV systems.
25 officials from various Banks and Financial Institutions such as SBI, BOI, Syndicate Bank, SBI Capital, and Tata Cleantech etc. have attended this training programme. The event was concluded with a valedictory session and distribution of certificates to the participants, along-with the site visit to VJTI's Centre of Excellence Smart Grid and Renewable Energy Laboratory cum Test-bed.
During the training programme, the bankers specifically highlighted few of the related issues including a) approval required for rooftop solar power plants to process application for providing loan to the customers, b) Identification of agencies for carrying-out third-party inspection (TPI) along-with the standardize process of verification to be adopted for inspection of the rooftop SPV power plants, c) Raking of different component manufacturers may be done for ease of selection for the banks, d) Bank manual may be provided by the MNRE with step by step process/checklist and quality standards to be verified for scrutiny of loan application, and e) Banking of accelerated depreciation (AD) may be taken up with Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India and Income-tax benefit may be provided to the household customers.
