India - Japan Workshop on "Solutions for Renewable Energy Deployment 2017"
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ), with support from Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan is organizing India - Japan Workshop on "Solutions for Renewable Energy Deployment 2017" at New Delhi on January 31, 2017.
Background
Indian government has set an ambitious target of achieving 175 GW of Renewable Energy (RE) capacity comprising 100 GW of Solar, 60 GW of Wind, 10 GW of Biomass, and 5 GW of Small Hydro by 2022. Implementation of renewable capacity of such proportions requires in-depth examination of and widespread deliberations with stakeholders in regard to a host of issues. In this context a workshop tailored for India is being organized with the objective of deliberating certain key areas in the backdrop of support and facilitation provided by Government of India and specific case studies from India and Japan.
One day workshop will cover the following:
- Support measures for RE introduction in Japan and India
- Introduction to Green Energy Corridor & Smart Grids
- Case studies on state-of-art micro-grids of remote islands and off-grids
- Case studies on RE introduction at Community level/Industrial level
- Smart Mini Grid Systems - TERI's Initiative
It is believed that the deliberations in the workshop would contribute wider sharing and dissemination of knowledge and experience and will help in achieving increased penetration RE in India.
