'2nd Sustainable Energy Leadership Programme 2015' supported by UNIDO for emerging and developing countries to enhance South South Collaboration
TERI is organizing the 2nd Sustainable Energy Leadership Programme 2015. The programme started on April 6, 2015 and will continue to run till April 17, 2015. It is supported by United Nations Industrial Organization (UNIDO) and has got 22 participants from different countries of Africa, South Asia, South East Asia, and Central Asia. The programme is a part of TERI and TERI University's South-South Cooperation initiatives to foster knowledge exchange in areas pertaining to the domain of renewable energy, energy access, and energy efficiency. Sessions of the programme are being enriched by deliberations carried out by TERI colleagues, TERI University faculties, and external speakers offering evening and guest lectures. Field and site visits are an integral part of the programme with some of the active participation and interaction taking place between the participants and practitioners on field. Further, there are guest lectures which are being offered from the industry experts to offer industry perspectives on Sustainable Energy Leadership and Sustainable Energy for All. The programme will conclude with a cultural programme, reception, and certificate distribution for the participants.
The inaugural session began with opening remarks from Dr Leena Srivastava, Acting Director General, TERI on the importance of the programme in enhancing TERI's South-South Cooperation and knowledge exchange vision through a mutual learning path. This was complemented by Dr Pradeep Monga, Director, UNIDO and Ms Ayumi Fujino, Country Director, UNIDO who expressed their strong commitment to enhance and strengthen SELP and several other South-South Cooperation initiatives with TERI in future to address the broad goal of country-to-country cooperation in the domain of sustainable development. The inaugural session was also marked by the presence of Dr Rajiv Seth, Registrar, TERI University, Mr Amit Kumar, Adjunct Professor, Department of Energy and Environment, TERI University, Dr Ritu Mathur, Professor, TERI University, and Dr Atul Kumar, Fellow, TERI and Mr Anandajit Goswami, SELP Programme Coordinator.
